Republican Senators boycott debate of climate change bill
Personally I think they did not want their vote recorded. They are for cap and tax just like "the other party". They think were stupid.

Yep. Partisan grandstanding. They did the same thing with the "republican version of the healthcare bill", yuk yuk. If I weren't so darn angry I'd almost be laughing...![]()

So you are saying that they would enact the same legislation as the dems just they want to do it when they are in power. That would allow them to feed the profits to their own group of friends rather than to the friends of the dems.
But I am not buying it completely. I think there is a faction of the pubs who don't believe in global warming and would not support legislation to address a made up issue.

So, that's why they're boycotting the debate, and depriving themselves of the opportunity to make their case before the American People?

Boycotting the proceedings deprives them of the ability to make their case to the American people, how?
Seems to me that they have made their case in the very article that prompted this thread.
These people are our only hope to avoid ridiculous cap and trade legislation.

It's too late.
WHERE were all these wonderful people when they were pushing through the R-400 legislation? Hm?
Shoulda shoulds woulda coulda, but didn't.
That's what I was screaming about EIGHT YEARS AGO, when all y'all were accusing me of hating America. Now it sounds like you're singin' a different tune, just as I predicted you would be.
It's okay, I'm on your side. I just fear it's a little late now.
Look here's what's going on: the government is racing against time, to close the loopholes in the law. If they succeed in doing that, we are COMPLETELY SCREWED. Then we will have NO recourse against all this "ridiculous" legislation, as you say, and I fully agree, it is in fact ridiculous!
But I mean, if you're standing up against cap & trade, you should have been standing up against the R-400 too. Do you realize, that the R-400 legislation adds 700 dollars to the cost of every house's climate control system? Not only that, but you can no longer just "refill freon", you need a guy with specialized equipment and a license to do it and the bottom line is it's increased your direct costs by over TEN TIMES! And this is for stuff that doesn't even leak out into the atmosphere! (unless you have a broken system in the first place)!

Maybe a couple but not many. Hell when you know the oil companies helped write this mess you begin to lose faith in the system.

It's one big PR sham. "Yah guys, we'll reject this bill so it makes us look good but don't worry, our corporate circle-jerk is still on"
"While I am a great believer in the free competitive enterprise system and all that it entails, I am an even stronger believer in the right of our people to live in a clean and pollution-free environment. To this end, it is my belief that when pollution is found, it should be halted at the source, even if this requires stringent government action against important segments of our national economy."

No, they're not for cap and tax.
Sometimes the Republicans do the right thing, Michael. More often than the Democrats.
