Thread: Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Gay men and women have served in the military for years. They've showered with the same sex for years. The only difference now is that they don't have to be secretive about their orientation. It's the military not prison with "prison love" running rampant. Honestly, most gay men who join the military aren't the flaunting type anyway.

We should be bigger than this, many other countries have gay in their military and they don't seem to have a problem. I think our culture just has a hang-up and will blame most of that on christians. The military simply isn't the proper venue for gay rhetoric nonsense. Soldiers have a standard by which they should comport themselves. As it stands, don't ask, don't tell is part of that standard. If one cannot abide by this simple rule, then how can officers expect their soldiers to do as they're told, especially something as morally repulsive (but necessary) as killing the enemy at point blank range?



If one cannot keep his sexual inclinations within its proper place (that is, in the privacy of his personal life), then perhaps one is better off in a career outside the military. Same goes to the person who has moral compunctions about killing another human being.
