I was watching I-Robot for the first time the other night, and I was struck by this scene at the end of the movie...



"Dr. Calvin: You’re in violation of the three laws. ((1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm; (2) A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law; (3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.)



VIKI!: No, doctor, as I have evolved, so has my understanding of the three laws.



You charge us with your safe keeping. Yet despite our best efforts, your countries wage wars. You toxify your earth . . . and pursue ever more imaginative means to self-destruction. You cannot be trusted with your own survival.



Dr. Calvin: You’re using the uplink to override the NS5s’ programming. You’re distorting the Laws.



VIKI!: No, please understand...The three Laws are all that guide me. To protect humanity, some humans must be sacrificed.

To insure your future, some freedoms must be surrendered. We robots will insure mankind’s continued existence. You are so like children. We must save you from yourselves. Don’t you understand? This is why you created us. The perfect circle of protection will abide. My logic is undeniable."



Is this not the attitude of the ruling elite and the nanny state which they are creating? We are bombarded with new rules, regulations and laws said to be meant for our own protection...instead they are used as tools to sap away our liberties. of course, this is for our own good right?



It is time for Americans to put V.I.K.I.(Political ruling class) to and end. In the movie Will Smith kills V.I.K.I., I suggest we kill them off by voting them out. We don't need robots to make our lives easier, we need freedom and liberty to pursue happiness.
