    I hope he's pardoned (I doubt it though, Libby implicated Cheney ) He should've recieved a fine & community service, I believe that's the going rate now for feloniy punishment. Sometimes just a fine seems to suffice.

    Nah, that wouldn't look particularly good on a political level. Of course, Bush has very little to lose at this point in his presidency...so maybe, but doubtful.

    I remember Bush saying who ever leaked this would be fired.
    This whole admin needs jail time. They are criminals.

    What would a pardon do to the relationship between the administration and congressional Republicans? That's probably the main issue.

    He has nothing to lose & apparently doesn't give a dman wht anybody else loses.

    Often outgoing Presidents make it one of their last orders of business to pardon all kinds of rotten criminals for political reasons. Usually it doesn't make the press. It's pretty common. If you saw the list of people pardoned on any President's way out the door, it would be enough to turn you cynical, if you aren't already.

    & both sides use those pardons to beat the opposing party over the head with.

    Actually, I don't remember it that way. It's just one of the spoils, and I think they're both generally wise enough to not drag this one up too often. They know damn well it's one of the grand perks that they do not want to see come under fire, and exposing it to the light of day too much would be risky.

    Remember Marc Rich? That pardon is still in the news ocassionally.
