Again I have to agree with you; but where do we start, keeping in mind that any new system would, naturally, have to remain within the framework of the Constitution?

As it is, neither political party in actuality bears in mind that it's supposed to be,"of the people, by the people and for the people." I doubt very highly that our founding fathers ever imagined that it would evolve into what it is now where the government is actually run by the military-industrial complex and the billionaire-special-interest groups.

Nor could they ever have imagined that a foreign-interest group, (AIPAC), would actually determine our foreign policies and, to a lesser degree, the policies directly affecting the common, ordinary, everyday citizens of this country.

Any American can run fpr the presidency. That's the way it's supposed to be, however, since the DNC & the RNC both have a nasty habit of not allowin all that want to debate in their debates, i think the Constitution is sorta forgotten. The media won't look at a third party candidate seriously.

You're right, Migi, and that's why we need to change things drastically in order to return this country to what it's supposed to be. Unfortunately, however, it may involve some blood-spilling. Of course, I'm not advocating violence; but it may very well be that there is no alternative, I'm sad to say.

It's definitely going to take a lot more than dumping tea in the Boston harbor to make voices heard!

When it costs several hundred million dollars to run for president, every american can not run.

The system needs to change into a representative parliamentary system with voting on political parties and were the party with the most votes gets the president. I don't know, It's not an easy question to answer.
And no donations to private people just to the parties and they can then do whatever they want with the money and the parties should finance all campaigns. That will reduce the amount of corruption and political back scratching.

I think Olbermann oversimplifies just a bit. The funding was short term, and the Dems will be joined by the Republicans very soon if Iraq does not show significant improvement. In a few months time, Congress will be united agaist the President.

Every Americn that makes it far enough to debate should be allowed to debate but the two major parties have decided that they can't allow that.

There is another party out there, it's called the Constitutional Party. Here is a vid of Jerome Corci. It is called Martial Law, but I think that you should give it a view.

Any American with about thirty million dollars to spend can run, you mean.
The days of the presidency being a populist office ended shortly after the Civil War. The net-net result is you have one self aggrandizing opportunist opposing another set of self aggrandizing opportunists. There's no "we the people" in this process anymore, unless it's "We The People" who get sheared like sheep and then sold for lamb chops.

Until you can take the impact of money out of the equation there is no hope for a third party.
