    Bush cutting troops in Iraq

Saturday, May 26, 2007 - New York Times News Service - The Bush administration is ready to cut troop levels in Iraq. The cut would be 20 U.S. combat brigades to 10.

This is disgusting. This is murder. George Bush pushed for a surge. A lot of people are getting killed. Yet the Bush administration already knows they will cut back the troops. This is total insanity.

I'll believe it when I see it. Right now they are putting a second surge in. Bush said yesterday that the surge wont be done till mid June.

If he's gonna do that crap, he might as well pull completely out. Otherwise, it's just slaughtering our troops.

It is not as simple as it appears on the surface. The Maliki gov't needed a strong arm power base. Coalition Forces had rules of engagement that stated hands off on Al Sadr's boys. Political links to Muqtada Al-Sadr made his Mahdi Army the logical choice despite strong links to Jerusalem Force and Iran. Rumsfeld felt that we could reach our 50,000 footprint goal quicker by going that route seeing the political will back home fading.

Rumsfeld resigned the day after the election. It appears his plan gave way to a civil war and giving Iran the vision of being able to become a regional power broker in the heart of the world's battery.

"Black Hand" Bob Gates, who masterminded the insurgency against the Soviets in Afghanistan, comes in and removes restrictions on who can be engaged. They surge combat units to clean up all the bad actors. There will be a constant change in aggregate strength over the next year in Iraq with the goal of rotating soldiers home who got extended for the surge and reaching our magic number of staffing the forward operating base in Iraq with 50,000 forces and a sympathetic freely elected gov't, preferably before JAN 2009 When Hillary gets sworn in.

Oh, I see, it is magic - "magic number". I can't do magic sorry. I just read what is written. The article states that the Bush Administration will cut 10 fighting brigades from the 20 that are there now. Regardless of the surge results. Why do Republicans always believe they have ESP, but their predictions are always wrong? By the way the fight in Iraq is all about who will control that oil.

On Thursday, the southern Iraqi province of Muthanna celebrated the handover of security responsibilities from coalition forces to Iraqi troops in a soccer stadium outside the provincial capital of Samawah. The first transition of its kind in the country—Coalition troops will remain in Muthanna, but only in an advisory role

So this changes something lets put some kind of measure on it. Will this cause less people to die in Iraq? There certainly is no evidence of that.
