Nor, to answer a question on the OP's intentions. Thank you Michael, for your input. I used it to do a little research, and discovered that the FBI does indeed have the technological capability to do exactly what you suggested.



And, I have no doubt they would USE that capability, even over a court's objection, if, say, a terrorist needed to be tracked in a rental car.
