The Iraq war compared to the Boer wars

Figured why compare Iraq to Vietnam or something when those are completely unanalogous wars...

But the second Boer war is very similar to that of the current Iraq war in that a larger force is unable to decisively defeat a smaller force capable of not winning militarily but killing or maiming enemy combatants.

If you study the Boer war you'll see that brutal tactics used by the British only comparable to those tactics later used by the Japanese and Nazis ... were not enough to truly subdue the Boeres.

Doesn't look good then for the US or UK currently in Iraq now with much less conviction and far more attention to human rights.

Hardly any American knows what the Boer war was. All I know is that it took place in the 1890s I beleive?

good one, although if looking at American history the Philippine-American war seems a better fit: Philippine-American War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
