The Power of the Israel Lobby: See the Video


Don’t miss this one: A Dutch documentary (in English) on “Portrait of a Great Taboo: The Power of the Israel Lobby in the United States,” featuring John J. Mearsheimer, Tony Judt, Michael Massing, Larry Wilkerson (!), Daniel Levy, and Richard Perle pretending to be a human being for some sinister counterpoint. I particularly liked Wilkerson on the reasons for the Iraq war: no, it wasn’t oil, it wasn’t those elusive “weapons of mass destruction,” nor was it spreading “democracy” (eh, no kidding!): it was all about the neocons. And Judt has a fascinating analysis of the simultaneous rise of the Lobby and identity politics. Plus great production values, and moody, foreboding music that really sets the right tone. Very effective: check it out.

The video seems to state something to the effect of "Oh No! Jews are our allies!'

Well the state of Israel is a long standing ally of the United States and we are generous to them. I don't see the problem.

The problem is that the U.S., in blindly backing Israel in the ME, is creating enemies there which we definitely do not need. Not only that, but Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is atrocious and needs to be stopped.

Perhaps you're oblivious to what's going on in the Occupied Territories. If so, I suggest that you educate yourself.

Not at all, the occupied territories that Israel secured to defend herself is a nessesary step for them. They had no choice! I'll remind you that their enemies are a hell of alot closer to them than ours are. Negotiations for a free Palestinian state have been marred by terrorist attacks and an unwilling Palestinian government. The road to peace is holed by the bombs of facists.

I happen to be one person who doesn't buy the bullcrap spread by the U.S. and Israel regarding Israel's so-called "defensive actions" with respect to the Palestinians in the occupied territories. Therefore, I'll say what I want to say; and if others, (including yourself), don't like it, that's tough!
