What is your stance on gun control?
The right to bear arms is clearly enumerated and protected by the second amendment. I haven't really taken sides on this issue, but I think that if people want gun control they need to change the constitution and stop trying to ignore it. I think that if we start ignoring the constitution we will find ourselves on a slippery slope that will lead to the destruction of our freedoms.
I find that the isosceles stance gives me the best gun control.
We own several firearms & have CCL, will travel.
"Ted Kennedys car has killed more people than my gun"
If it was up to me, I would completely ban guns. I wish guns were never invented--anywhere. But, obviously, this contradicts the constitution. Since, we cannot clearly completely ban them--I would severely restrict their sales, and make it very hard to own a gun. That is my stance. Very strict gun control.
Putting any kind of restrictions on the sale and possession of guns is on pretty shaky ground constitutionally, and making it nearly impossible is definitely unconstitutional. The 2nd amendment says,
"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
I don't see any point to it. Anyone who is willing to kill someone with a gun will just find other ways of killing people. As far as cop safety, the criminal will probably just have an illegal gun anyways. Drugs are illegal but anyone can still get them.
The problem with your 'stance' is that "restricting" is the same as "infringement" which is strictly prohibited by the 2nd Amendment. What most people fail to comprehend, basically because they weren't taught properly in the 'Punlik Skuul Sistim', but were instead indoctrinated into the Liberal mindset, is that the majority of the Bill of Rights is NOT a government 'grant' of liberties, but a recognition of our pre-existing, God given Rights as human beings, and a guarantee that the government cannot intrude on those Rights. The Second Amendment is the teeth behind the rest of the Constitution and gives We The People the ability to prevent the government from taking the rest of our Rights away away.
Gun control is an individual issue, person for person, hand for hand, personal responsability. Since some people aren't that responsible about guns, they shouldn't own them by their personal choice, in respect to the safety of the rest of us, and presummably their own foot.
I own guns that will one day help to defend this country, possibly in my lifetime, hopefully not.
