Why does this not suprise me?





Traveling some 27,000 miles, African-American journalist Rich Benjamin roamed the United States from 2007 to 2009 exploring a major demographic shift that's attracting remarkably little attention — the flight of white residents from cities and integrated suburbs into cloistered, racially homogeneous enclaves. Tidy communities such as St. George, Utah and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho — places Benjamin calls Whitopias — have grown at triple the rate of America's cities in recent years, raising troubling questions about the country's multiracial cohesion.

You, a black man, sat in on a white separatist retreat. How did that go over?

They were curious and shocked they had found a black man on their premises. A lot of the members of the church took pains to explain to me the difference between white supremacy and white separatism. They said, "We don't think we're better than you, we just want to be separate from you."

This "trend" is largely the natural emigration of mostly white populations to suburbs, and it's slowing down now due to the financial crisis.



Wouldn't suprise me if there are a few communities who move to that area for the sole purpose of being white-only, but I doubt it's a large trend.

I think it's pathetic, but on a good note, I hope these people just disappear altogether.

but most of the Whitopians I encountered aren't intentionally practicing racial discrimination or self-segregation.

You'll note that these communities don't have a record of discrimination against their black residents. Blackies are free to move there at will just as whities are.



EDIT: With the exception of that Aryan Nations community in Idaho or whatever the hell it was, obviously.

Who cares if some idiotic bigots in Idaho live on an Aryan Brotherhood compound? Why in God's name would you want them living in the same place as the blacks?
