    Urine test for welfare applicants

Like a lot of folks in this nation, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I
pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as they see fit.
In order to get that paycheck. I am required to pass a random urine test, which I have no problem with. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check, because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sit on their butt. Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check.

That's a no brainer, IMO. I agree 100% that welfare recipients should be required to have a drug test.

I have a problem with the government testing anyone for anything. An idea like this is how fascism gets moving.

I think that's an excellent proposition. Of course, if someone wants to really pass a urine test, they can. You pick up a welfare check once a month, right? Well, marijuana is the only drug that really stays in your system for an everyday user. Coke, Heroine, LSDs; all only stay in your system for 1-8 days from what I've heard. Therefore, if you want to pass a drug test, just stop don't doing crank 3 days before you pick up your check. Not to mention, the costs of these drug tests would be pretty high.

Just stop handing out entitlements to anyone with a pulse. That would cure a lot of this. Shift the focus of the programs away from redistribution of cash from the producers to the non productive, and assist in making them productive.

Welfare in the first place is how socialism got started here too.

Do you think that accused rapists & murderers should be allowed to roam the streets unetil their day in court comes along? Maybe years down the road?
No, I am not comparing the welfare recipients to murderers or rapists, just going on your "argument". GI's have the "gold flow" test randomly several times.

You have a good point... Anyone can get around a drug test if they really try. But at least we can stop helping the stupid ones...

I am not a fan of random urine testing in the work place. Only in situations of at fault accidents.
I am also not a fan of the welfare system.
I believe in helping others that help themselves.
At minimum I would make people earn their welfare by doing some sort of community service.
The welfare system should be abolished.
