Good point. If we are going to be a tolerant society don't we also need to tolerate each others intolerance?

You cannot hate and not expect social repercussions later on. The trouble with human beings is that there are stupid people out there, who WILL step outside the boundaries if there are sufficient numbers. So how do you control the average tomy?
That's right, discourage hate altogether. You cannot hate something or someone. There has to be held a certain level of understanding regarding our stance. If you distinguish man and beast, then I concur man should possess the level of understanding to unstitch his stereotypes over certain issues surrounding his view of things.
In short, don't hate, simply understand. You will find your hate disappears... Hate is a very very strong word.
If they outlawed hate, we would of course lose the KKK and Greenpeace.....
But we'd also see arrests in the Democrats, the Republicans and most "minorities".
My thoughts on hate. If I dislike someone, I ignore them. I don't waste a split second of my time or a bit of my energy hating someone. If I don't care for them, it's is as though they don't exist.
Yes. Tolerating differences is the cure for hate, not legislation.
Agreed. Worse, it tries to legislation thought. That's only something Liberals used to try to do, but now the RWNJ's aka Tea Party and Religious Right have jumped on the bandwagon too. It's only going to hurt us. I'm sure we'll recover, but it will be stormy seas ahead while we try to work out the mess.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from Birmingham Jail, April 16, 1963
"When rules are selectively administered, when bias influences who is punished and who is not then everyone will begin to doubt the justice of the system."
