Autism May Be More Common Than Thought

    Keep vaccinating those children!!

It was not long ago that the numbers were 1 in 151, now it is 1 in 91 children. This is mercury, but do not believe me, go get your flu shots, become an idiot, it is after all your life!

The problem with this report is it was not based off of science but with parents. There are many cases of misdiagnosed autism, or kids who are not 'autistic' who aren't.

Even if it's 150 it's still a high number, but with a kid under 3 this report doesn't change how I'd vaccinate or not vaccinate him

Listen I do not vaccinate. I took my grand daughter in for her check up a couple of months ago. The doc of course freaked out, so i asked for info. Every damn vaccination....every vaccine gave the same warnings, one of those warnings were "watch for behavioral changes", cool way of saying watch for autism.

Now this misdiagnosis bull is just that, bull, what was it diagnosed as before, retardation, do you want me to believe we ever had 1 in 150 retarded children...I know on this board that would be conservative, but not in real life. So that does not fit.

Is it the vaccines themselves or the thimerisal?

Some of these don't even contain thimerosal, but everyone says it. I read them, had my wife read them, then finally threw them away. They solidified my determination.

Hey while were hear, do not, please, get the man made flu shot. The nasal stuff is also real bad, it will spread the flu. These people are nuts.

The problem is autism is behaviorally diagnosed. A lot of things "before" are now being diagnosed as Autism, such as various cases of ADHD.

I agree it's a problem and a responsible parent should be doing significant research from a variety of sources prior to making any medical decisions for the children whose welfare they are entrusted with. I think these reports are one of those sources but I also think that a parent or caregiver should be talking to a number of medical professionals, reading everything that they can get their hands on, talking to other parents, etc. It sucks that there are no "right" answers, only less worse ones.

We never had 1 in 150 kids with anything, but chicken pox and measles, now they have autism. There are confirmed links to autism and vaccines.

The medical pros are willful idiots, they paid damn good money, they learned that vaccines are good, and thats that, they will not reference anything outside of that box.

My son had a problem with his pleura, after his surgery, the doctors wanted to know what caused it, I told them it was probably Antitrypsin Deficiency, it runs in my family. It took me three days and countless articles from the AMA to confirm it for them. The fucks didn't even thank me.

I hate doctors, I have lots of experiences with them. They are well trained, but do not try to break that, you will be better off talking to a rock.

It's worth mentioning that the article linked in the OP makes absolutely no mention whatsoever of vaccines in any context.

Michaelr - Here's one thing you could do to bolster your argument. Can you explain to us HOW vaccines cause autism? What's the mechanism? You are absolutely, positively certain of the causal relationship between vaccines and autism, so it stands to reason that you have an general understanding behind the process that connects them.

I'm not looking for all of the technical details... Just a one-paragraph summary will suffice. So tell us ... how do vaccines cause autism?

There is no proof and he really does not know what he is talking about. Yes there are what seems to be more cases of autisn nowadays but the reasons could very well be the increased number of toxins in our foods and environment now versus just 30-50 yrs ago. Pesticides, bisphenol A, pcbs and all your brominated flame retardants are a much more likely source.

Actually, part of the reason could be better diagnosis and understanding of autism.

30 years ago most of these kids would have been put in a "Special Education" class and labeled stupid. As a parent of an autistic child, I'm very lucky that my son was diagnosed early so that his needs could be met. Today, at 19 years old, you would hardly think he was autistic, just abnormally shy.

I had a lady I worked with years ago whose son was autistic. She decided she didnt want to have him "labeled" and missed out on great learning opportunities for her son. He now struggles daily from the lack of an intervention early on.
