Congress votes down Bush's Iraq Plan

    From CNN:
    Vote slams Bush's Iraq plan

The House of Representatives easily passed 246-182 a non-binding resolution Friday rejecting President Bush's plan to send more troops to Iraq. "This will signal a change in direction that will end the fighting and bring our troops home," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. Republicans battled to the end against the measure, saying resolve is more important than resolutions.

    From FOX News:
    From MSNBC:

    Iraq resolution passes House

    Senate to consider similar measure
    Updated: 46 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - The Democratic-controlled House issued a symbolic rejection of President Bush's plan to deploy more troops to Iraq on Friday, opening an epic confrontation between Congress and commander in chief over an unpopular war that has taken the lives of more than 3,100 U.S. troops.
The vote on the nonbinding measure was 246-182, with 6 not voting.

Notice how CNN's header makes it sound like someone kicked someone elses ass while FOX cleverly words their header to make it sound like the Dems lost the already failed war. MSNBC was pretty cut & Dry on the issue tho.....

The words 'non-binding resolution' leap out from the page. Will Bush pay any heed to this or carry on merrily regardless? :hissy: (not sure what hissy means in this context but that smilie seems very apt for my mood!)

But honestly, what the hell will this "non-binding" resolution do? Bush will just make his usual dumb frat guy smirky face and do whatever the hell he wants to do.

The power-mad Democrats, and the spineless Republicans with only re-election in mind voted for this totally worthless "non-binding" resolution.

These polititians are cowards...if they had any courage of convictions they would immediately cut funding to the troops...but instead they play games with the troops lives.

These politicians are gutless and disgraces to the country.

Did I say that with enough conviction! :hissy: :booty: :flickoff:

I agree and sent you green for this one.

What purpose is there in a "non-binding" resolution? If you are going to take a stand then for the love of all things holy, stand up.

There had been 40 or 50 Repubs expected to vote for this mindless non binding resolution, only 17 Repubs ended up voting for it.
With half the troops on their way to Iraq already, I doubt very much that this waste of time by the House will have any impact, except on troop moral.
Congress will not take funds away from this war. They remember why a president was given C-n-C status in the first place.

I know. Its just the principle that pleases me

Its refreshing to have the executive struck down by the legislature in my country of residence for once.
