Re: The rampup to war with Iran hightens.....

I've seen those pictures on TV of American special troops who look just like Arabs, with beards, turbans, AK-47s, etc. doing dirty things in Afghanistan. Iran is just a hop across the border, and I would assume they do some dirty things in Iran as well. I imagine they're also in Pakistan and Syria. They're all over the Horn of Africa right now, and so probably also in Yemen, another chaotic middle-eastern country.

If you look at a map, America is all over the place. America has troops in every country bordering an enemy, potential enemy, or rival. When America has problems, America can create more problems for its enemies.

The special forces are very covert, of course, and they probably gather intelligence more than kill. They have to be very secret, because there would be a big scandal if they are caught. I know that in the past, my country's special forces have done secret missions in Argentina and Bolivia, so certainly America can do secret missions as well.

Why would they do that? Spies and informants would be more effective, not to mention they have less chance of getting caught...

The special forces do reconnaissance of strategic military objectives (military bases, terrorist camps, roads, utilities, etc) especially in rural areas. Spies and their masters are usually embassy employees working in the capital city, and other big cities. Since America does not have relations with Iran, I doubt America has spies in Tehran. However, other countries (Britain and Australia, for example) probably spy on Iran, and collaborate with the Americans, and maybe even meet with some of their operatives.

Spies and sattelites would prolly do just fine at that...

Re: The rampup to war with Iran hightens.....

Most intelligence analyses I have read suggest that the USA will not declare war on Iran, nor will it embark upon an invasion and occupation of the country. The USA has not declared war since WW2 - that is not its current style.

There is a possibility of either a direct aerial and missile attack upon the Iranian nuclear facilities, and attendant infrastructure, or an attack by proxy, using Israeli assets.

Only time will tell if this is a probability, but the US seems to painting itself into a corner which will leave them little choice, if only to save face.

The US simply does not have the ability to engage in a war, invasion and occupation of Iran, while simultaneously fighting the resistence in Afghanistan and Iraq. They would need to engage Syria as well, because of the mutual defence pact between Iran and Syria.

Any attack upon the Iranian infrastructure would comprise an act of war, and would legitimise (legitimatise?) any retaliatory actions taken by the Iranians. I very much doubt the USA's traditional allies would rally round, and America would find itself in the position of an isolated aggressor.

I hope that the American people understand this, and do everything they can to prevent such a thing happening.
