    Sentencing for Torture

I was wondering what sentence you get if you are convicted of torture? IMO, I think it should right up there with rape, arson, child molestation, etc. It probably is though.

Again, depends upon the degree of torture. i would think it more comes under either rape, assault or battery.

Yes, I understand. That's why I was asking for the minumum/maximum sentence since the severity varies.

Since none of you can tell the minimum/maximum sentence, I found this, but the sentnece was most likely largely in part to the kidnapping, not the torture, which is much worse.

There are so many variable, one can't give you a definite without more facts. Is it a state charge, if so what state, is it a federal charge, if so who committed the act, a public servant, is it a military charge. Then after jurisdiction is determined so that one can know which law or laws apply, then one has to look at the facts, age of the victim, type of torture, severity of injuries, etc. You ask for cut and dry answers and none can be given based on your question. The responses given were very accurate. It does depend.

So you are saying there is not a minimum/maximum sentence? That might be true, I doubt it. Anywho, I found there is still state inflicted torture over the world, for different beliefs.

There are different laws in every state for most crimes and those laws all have different sentences that can be imposed.
