Who said they shouldn't be allowed to?

It should be up to the religous authorities (although it doesn't really matter, you can get married with your sister and mother by your parrot for all I care), and the word "marriage" should not appear in legislation.

if you asked 'shouldn't marry together' I'd probably have some reasons as in 'it's a bad idea'. But 'shouldn't be allowed to'... No reason at all. Like the man said, if you want to marry your pet or your elbow or three people of the same sex in your underwear... rock on with your bad self.

Unfortunately, most of the high profile cases of polygamy (in Canada anyway) have involved minors, sex with minors and a LOT of coersion and manipultion prior to the weddings. These are all illegal. No contract signed with a minor or signed under duress is considered binding. This is no different.

But two or three or 9 consenting adults.... none of anyone elses business.

Might cause debate as far as benifits go. 3 people taking paid maternity leave and so on. But I don't care. 90 percent of my taxes go to freaks. I live with it.

I agree with Fes, lets just replace marriage with union and give it the same legal rights as marriage.

Plus, I dont really think Polygamy is a bad thing, as long as you love all of your partners equally.

But why do all that? Why is it different if you call it a union? Why not just say anyone can get married? Its just changing the word.
