American troops to march in Red Square

Not surprising in view of Obama's infatuation with communist thuggery.

U.S. Troops to March in Red Square Parade
Posted By Kim Zigfeld On March 24, 2010 @ 12:00 am
When I read the news on March 18, I was ashamed to call myself an American, ashamed to admit that Barack Obama was my president.

I learned in a tiny Internet blurb from the Associated Press [1] that the U.S. Embassy in Moscow had confirmed that on May 9, 2010, American soldiers would march in the infamous military parade through Red Square alongside the neo-Soviet army of proud KGB spy Vladimir Putin. Obama wants U.S. soldiers to help the Kremlin celebrate the 65th anniversary of the allied victory over Nazi Germany. British and French soldiers, it seems, will also take part.

All part of the now infamous Obama “reset” on Russia. Next stop for U.S. troops? Maybe a similar parade in Tehran?

Make no mistake about how Russians will understand this event. Putin will say to them: “You see, not only will they not help you fight for democracy, they will march against you. They will help me crush you.” Meanwhile Russian propagandists lose no opportunity [2] to divide and conquer the West, even going so far as to buzz Alaska with nuclear bombers on a routine basis.
The reporting of the item was so obscure, one could almost have thought Obama was ashamed of his decision — as well he might have been.

Two days later, a massive wave of protests swept Russia, in a coordinated move by the opposition known as “Day of Anger [3].” The Russian government outlawed the protests, shut down the website [4] that was organizing them, preemptively arrested activist leaders, and then conducted mass arrests [4] of those who dared to show their faces on the streets. Obama said nothing in support of these freedom fighters.

The contrast between the craven actions of the Obama administration and the valiant stand being taken by activists within Russia could not be more disturbing. America can clearly be seen betraying the bedrock principles upon which it was founded, allowing a vehemently anti-American regime to consolidate power in Moscow, and supplying aid and comfort to American enemies across the globe. Obama is rapidly becoming a president who will live in infamy.

Signs of popular unrest are growing daily [5] in Putin’s Russia as the KGB regime further and further compresses personal freedom and civil society, and more and more badly bungles the management of the economy. A recent news report [6] and YouTube video [7] showed today’s Russia in microscosm: Workers assigned to build the Sochi 2014 Olympics venues are going unpaid, starving, and living in slum conditions, because the Kremlin, strapped for cash and hopelessly corrupt, cannot pay them. Russia spent five times more preparing its athletes for the 2010 Olympics compared to 2006, and collected one-third fewer medals.

Obama got a taste, though, of how Putin treats his own countrymen when he sent Hillary Clinton to Moscow begging for a renewal of the START treaty, which lapsed months ago despite Obama’s much ballyhooed “reset” of relations, of which sending U.S. soldiers to Red Square is an obvious part. Putin chose just that moment to announce [8] he would press forward in helping Iran to light up a nuclear power plant even as Clinton courts world sanctions against that rogue nation because of its nuclear weapons secrecy...

Not particularly. I view it as shameful. What's next? Russian troops marching in front of the Congress and White House.

Pajama Media, whoever the hell that is, forgets to mention that the British and French will also be there. The Cold War is over buddy, it's time to stop the ****ing McCarthyism.

We're improving relations with them with the continuation of a new START treaty. Or do you like the threat of nuclear war looming overhead? Miss the old days?

We shouldn't be legitimizing thuggery. Perhaps we should also march in North Korea's march in front of their "Dear Leader" as well. After all that would be a preview of the adoration that Obama strives for, isn't it?

We have diplomatic relations with Russia - we're far from enemies now. We're finding common cause by celebrating victory over fascism and nuclear arms reduction. That's what we're invited to celebrate and nothing more. If the government actually made a statement like "thanks for celebrating communism," then the UK, US and France would all pull out. Don't believe some idiotic source. Exercise some common sense and demonstrate that you can live in a world with a free media without falling for propaganda from private interests.

Make no mistake about it. Russia is our enemy. Not as much (at least ideologically) as when they had an official communist regime. But the one they have right now is arguably even more dangerous than before. Putin is a KGB thug who murders his own people even in other nations such as the former KGB operative who was poisoned by radiation in Britain. He tried to murder Ukraine's president with dioxin a few years back. Do you really want to make nice to cold blooded murderers like Putin? Really?

It's not nearly so simple as "Russia is our enemy" anymore. Russia may be antagonistic sometimes, but the US also needs the Russians to help with situations like Iran, with whom Russia has not inconsiderable influence. Maintaining good relations is a good idea.

It's nice that Russia publicly acknowledges those who assisted her in defeating the Nazi threat, even if it's a bit overdue.

Re: American troops to march in Red Square

The Second World War was fought on Russian soil (let's thank our lucky American stars it wasn't fought here) and although we spent fifty years as mortal enemies, our relations are much more cordial now. Yes, we are opponents, but not at the moment enemies. Our troops never fought side-by-side, but the did fight a common enemy, and it's that common cause being celebrated.

We're very proud of our participation in WWII, even though it came rather late and we didn't suffer in nearly the way others did, including (maybe even especially) Russians. Why should we not advertise our pride in that victory at every opportunity?

And as for Russian troops marching in Washington, I suppose they might--IF WE ASKED THEM. We were invited--it would be nothing short of rude and undiplomatic to refuse.
