    We need more conservatives

OK, so far from what I have seen, there are too many liberals here.

To get a good debate going, you need both sides. Otherwise, it's just a conversation.

However, we don't need the teabaggers and other extremists who think that a good debate consists of calling Obama a Marxist or saying that we all want one-party rules and then sitting back thinking they've won the argument (while playing a bass).

How can we bring in George Will and Joe Scarborough conservatives while keeping out the Glen Beck and Ann Coulter conservatives?

The best suggestion I can give to the liberals here is to be very outspoken and opinionated regarding your viewpoints. People join in when they get riled up about something, so everyone should do their best to post threads about topics that interest you, please you, infuriate you, etc.

I thought the same thing about the number of liberals around here so far.

However, we don't need the . . .extremists who think that a good debate consists of calling Obama a Marxist
    You know you missed me.

or saying that we all want one-party rules and then sitting back thinking they've won the argument (while playing a bass).
Recognized that one without the clue.

Hey! I am doing my best - left the door open for scummy!

Best bet is to invite some of the better members at other forums to join here. Trouble is there are darn few of them.

I have a couple in mind - even a couple of Aussies that are right wing (Okay that would probably equate to a screaming liberal in America but what the hey!)

It's probably a little strong to call Obama a Marxist, but socialising banking losses isn't exactly free market capitalism.

ooh! I like the cut of this conservative hat! The fabric is nice too.

I like my conservatives well informed, with a healthy dose of wit to add spice, and a touch of good manners for easy digestion.

If someone can make a good argument that Obama is a Marxist, I wouldn't mind debating it.

However, if you think that simply by calling him a Marxist you have made a wonderful point and have therefore won the debate and that there is no need to explain yourself, then I'd prefer you find another forum!

    I want a good argument!

All I can do is to repeat that time honoured caution; "Be careful what you wish for!"

And all discussion need not be limited to the party political scene in the USA. There are other topics of interest, and there is a world elsewhere.

I don't think its possible. The only way to handle the Beck and Coulter folks is to moderate them better. I have no problem debating with somebody dumb as Beck but its when they start with the name calling etc that things turn sour for me.

It was Bush who began the TARP. Do we still call it socializing the banks when conservatives do it? I too like my conservatives like Cass smart very versatile and with just a hint of humor and sarcasm just like me.
