To ask my relatives about "boy".
First, let me say this, (Not to you BN, because I don't believe you'll use this thread as a "call out") this is not a thread about anybody here being racist, & it certainly is not a call out, knock 'em down, drag out thread. & I won't entertain that.
Blueneck, I did ask our neices husband about the term "boy", their son (19 years old) was in on the conversation as well. "Joe" said that he calls his son boy but would be troubled if that term was applied to himself by anybody, because not only would he believe it showed disrespect to a grown man, it does have racial undertones in his opinion. His son said that he didn't care about the term & didn't look at it as a racial thing.
Maybe it's generational.
Anyway, I was wrong in some aspects about "boy". I don't use the term myself except for my own boys, they are grown men but they'll always be "our boys".
So, to you, I apologize for not really believing/understanding. We're never too old to learn.![]()
