Austria... I had a lot of trouble believing in what this man has actually managed to do. So many many years, his daughter is locked below and he is assaulting her... and his wife doesn't even know? Despite the daughter reported missing and being kept in the basement...

As far as I can understand, I don't think he is a monster but I do think he is not mentally stable to be in a family, let alone lead one. These kind of behaviours are abnormalities as the ability to cannibalize and commit incest are sometimes rather rare.

He doesn't look like an insect to me. He looks more like a monster that abuses his childeren and has incestual relations with his daughter.

What did you expect him to say? he did what he did for such a long time that he must have found a trillion ways to justify it to himself.

I think there is almost no possible way that the wife didn't know. I think she knew and kept her mouth shut. Probably he is also an abusive husband.

Yeah, just caught his relative on some BBC link email. Apparently, his relative says he has a dominating personality and a 'difficult' character. Sometimes, I think how can someone commit something that a good majority never even thinks of! The human mind... one complex machine.
