Insults must stop

When will the mods or admin put a stop to the insults ? People post and other people, instead of debating post insults about the poster. At what point will it stop ?

I hear you on this, loud and clear. I think it would be good to talk about the insults themselves and avoid talk about who is to blame because that would be an endless debate all its own and the insults would persist because of it, if not be escalated... possibly within the thread here.

Blueneck stated that it will stop when people stop doing it and that is the total reality of it. She is right. Mods cannot be tasked with enforcing rules that people will break no matter what. Its really up to the members to elevate the discussion beyond personal attacks and insults. Those that won't probably deserve to be ignored in some form or another.

I have for this very reason certain members on ignore because they go out of their way to attack and aren't just responding in kind. Those who respond in kind don't help either, but I realize there is only so much people can take. I don't miss the members I have on ignore one damn bit.

If you are wondering who I have on my ignore list, its not biggie but I'll never tell. You'll know if I never respond to your posts directed at mine.

The NBA is much more exciting to watch now that the ref's let them play without blowing the whistle every five seconds.

Overt insults are boorish and far less effective than the subtle, under the radar ones. Be creative! It's much more fun.

Though I've slipped up myself a time or two, I try to avoid personalizing any of the discussions and I generally have a good experience. I'd say, if you feel its personal, ignore it and move on to the next post. People will figure out that if they want a reply they need to discuss the topic sooner or later.
