A Question for Pro Choice People

Ok I am not slamming Pro Choice people for being pro choice, they are allowed to have that oppinion.

In fact, if it were not for abortion like methods, I would not be here today. Of course that situation was that...if my brother had come out, he would have had no brain and my mothers uterus would have been destroyed from the birth.

Not simply, because my mother wanted to have it. She needed to have it.

So what is this big CHOICE, pro abortion people want to make.

I mean pro choice people are so adament about it. Why are you so eager to end a child's life? Or the potential for a child's life?

I lied, I will slam it a bit...if your answer is because you cant afford the baby, or simply dont want to have it...then I personally think you are a moron. Put it up for adoption and dont have sex if you arent prepared for the consequences. If you were raped its a different story, but a raped woman is the only gray area I personaly see in it...but thats just my oppinion.

Yeah it is your choice whether or not to bare this child...but it could also be my choice to reach over a lunch table and stab the person I am eating with in the eye with a fork. How dare the government take that away from me!

I have heard arguments like...well what if the baby is going to have mental retardation or some other defect.

Well I guess all retards should be killed? Ok Hitler. Judge someone, your child, before its even born.

So really...what is the big choice all about?

I am pro choice, not pro abortion.

The fact is that, in my opinion, a vast majority of abortions could be avoided if people would act responsibly and put on a rain coat or take a pill. The fact that people use abortion as a form of birth control tells me that there are a lot of people that are not capable, nor should they, raise children.

Why is this a gray area for you? Shouldn't that life have the same opportunity as others?

We're not. In fact, I know many pro-choice people that would never - EVER - consider the deliberate termination of a pregnancy. However, those people realize that their decision is a personal one, and should not be decided by others.

That doesn't happen very often. Consider the costs involved, and you'll see that routinely using abortion as a method of birth control is very expensive.

And as far as other birth control goes, it's not an "answer" per se... Look at the numbers. I'm going to use estimates, so indulge me.

In the U.S., there are 100M households. I'm going to say that half of them consist of sexually active people. That's 50M couples. On a given day, I'm gonna say that quarter of those couples have sex. That's 12.5M couples. Now let's say that with NO birth control, the odds of conceiving are 1:10. That's 1.25M women likely to become pregnant.

Now let's say that EVERYONE uses birth control, and that birth control is 99.99% effective (both of these are exaggerations to make a point).

Given all of this, you wind up with roughly 125 sexually responsible women winding up pregnant on a daily basis... Over 45,600 per year.

Ok so again...why isnt it my personal choice to execute a man who I personally think is guilty, when he was determined innocent in the court of law?

There are reasons for laws taking away certain personal choices.

So would those same people, who might never commit murder or steal, think its ok for those to not be laws as well?

An abortion is equivalent to 4 months of birth control on my insurance plan. And it is pretty common. I personally know over 10 people under 30 who have had abortions multiple times. And I don't generally hang out in the trailer crowd.

Thanks for letting me know I'm allowed to have an oppinion.

You owe your life to the principles upheld by the Pro Choice movement. The Catholic Church and some other religious influences if they would have had their way....God in his wisdom would taken all three of you to be with him.

Your argument is the typical anti abortion schtick, not bad at all, just nothing new, and the important parts of the pro choice argument left out. If you want to argue effectively and break some ground, you might want to focus on debunking these few tid bits.

    1. A Fetus during the 1st trimester is neither an infant nor a baby. It has no brain, no nervous system. Calling it an unborn baby is a highly subjective unscientific religious based opinion (not fact) Until that 1st trimester is up it is purely the Mother's call on what happens to her fetus.

    2. Fetus, Fetus, Fetus, not unborn baby or unborn child during the 1st trimester.

    3. After the 1st trimester abortion is illegal so stay in the first trimester. Termination of Pregnancy is illegal during the 2nd and 3rd Trimester. If we start creating laws telling people what they can and cannot do with their bodies, it puts too much life and death authority in the hands of religious folks however well intended

If that person is a physical part of your body, then you'd have a very good case that it is a personal choice. Few things are more "personal" than one's own physical body.

I find it odd that so many people would be willing to share such information with you. Personally, I know two people that claim to have undergone abortions. However, I'm sure that I know others that have not brought up the topic in conversation.

Again; it is their choice - it's simply not my body, and not my business.
