    Rabidly Probama

You know, I'm having trouble being charitable to Hillary Clinton right now. I've always been a Clintonite*, but since Obama came along and started to get real, Clinton has impressed me as exuding a sense of entitlement that is as big as this room. I find myself refuting her statements aloud when I listen to her speeches. I guess right now I'm convinced that Obama can win against McCain OR Romney, while Clinton would likely lose to McCain. It's as if she is Naderizing herself. Obama just makes her look so old-school, so predictably structured and encumbered.

Maybe I just have a man-crush on Barack?

I'm conflicted, though, because I've spent a lot of Internet time defending Mrs. C.

And you hear so many people on these Internets saying how refreshing The Bom is. But on the other hand, I've concluded that the Internets are still the domain of geeks. Look at the Ron Paul phenomenon. To read any Web board, you'd think he had already walked away with the election. But in the real world he can scarcely muster a percentage point or two. (Personally, I'm thankful for that.) I think it tells me that the WWW is a magnet for millions of people in their underwear with too much free time or just obsessive personalities and it's not often an accurate read of real-time opinion.

    But I remain--for the moment--rabidly Probama.

Department of Once-Bitten-Twice-Shy: Am I a fool to think that 18- to 24-year-olds will actually wake up in time to vote this year?

*on second thought, it actually took me a while to warm up to Bubba in 1992. He wasn't my first choice back then, but he grew on me.

Yes, this year isn't any different than years past. Anything to indicate otherwise?

I don't like Hillary. At all.

Hillary and anyone else - anyone else

Obama and anyone else - ?

So it's a dig after all, I was wondering where you were going with that. Anyone who doesn't feel the same way as a banwagoneer ready to spend my tax money on a mexicans dental appointment must be in his moms basement in ill-fitting under-roos. Very good one dave.

It's a RANT, Sparta. It's hyperbole. If I offended you, I sincerely apologize. I don't use smilies and I have a dry sense of humor.

BUT, I think I have a point that what you "see" on the Internet doesn't bear out in real life...YET. This might change, but honestly, I used to believe Paul was a viable force. (I used to think he would be an okay president.) But it's just not happening in real life.

THAT'S why I asked basically the same about Obama's chances. I mean, in 2004 kids seemed to be supporting Kerry. But guess what? The fucking slackers didn't even vote.

No conservative woman likes Hillary Clinton. And that's why I'm not convinced she can win, as much as she thinks it's her destiny.

No offense taken dave. I have a theory about this. While everyone I ever knew has used the www at one point or another, very few of the people I know actually get their news (talking other than msm) from it, or are engaged in political discussion on it.
Before I began fucking with this thing seriously, you could have catagorized me a partisan goober. It was only after I educated myself that I began to have the views that I do.

    Sparta before internet= USAUSAUSA

Sparta after the internet= this place is fucked up.

Don't get me wrong, I still love it when Rocky kicks the crap out of that blood doping commie bastard, but Rocky 5 is no longer my fav.

So I guess my point is it's about education. I'm just waiting for you to come around.

Fair enough. But my OP here is not without ambiguity about my own partisan preferences. I'm putting on the record my own reservations and second-guessing that are the results of my Internet experience.

For the record...I thought "Rocky" (original) was sentimental drivel. Punching the meat was funny, though.

(And while we're ranting against over-rated 70s cinematic icons, "Star Wars"? Don't get me started. I guess I'm spoiling for a fight.)
