    Guns on Sunday

    <rant>
I live in a town called Liberty. It actually is kind of libertarian, too, and people more or less leave you alone and there's not much zoning and mediocre city services.

We have a 2 acre lot in the town that we've basically reforested since moving here in 1991. It's very peaceful and we like being able to go outside and work or meditate.

I play in two rock bands and I would never think of setting up in my garage and playing because it would be heard for about half a mile and ruin my neighbor's peace and quiet.

But gun owners apparently don't think twice about running lead ALL FUCKING SUNDAY, clip after clip of 9mm, 375, 38s. ALL FUCKING SUNDAY.

If you shoot outside within ear shot of neighbors, QUIT AFTER AN HOUR, OKAY? Better yet, don't be so low-rent and go to an indoor range, "freedom freaks."

I feel like setting up my amps on the back acre and playing "Blitzkrieg Bop" over and over, just the chords. Of course, the cops would stop me.

    Gabba Gabba Hey!

"Accidently" spray one of your neighbors houses with buckshot.
That should fix it.... new laws would be made quickly!

I'd be shot and I'm sure my 20 gauge and .22 rifle would be outgunned.

I hear ya Dave, I live on a very large piece of land but not big enough. It meets my neighbors yard about 2 acres back and I can still hear them shooting it up. I suppose it wouldn't bother me but one of my mutts cannot stand gunshots, fireworks, lightening, so she goes absolutely nuts when they shoot, which isn't too often.

They are nice people though so I'm sure if it got bad enough they'd accept me telling them to knock it off.

In my case, I think it's multiple people, but it does go on all day when the weather is nice. Oh, and on New Year's Eve, a "Nine" is redneck fireworks.

Maybe one day "second hand gunshot" will have the validity of "second hand smoke" and we'll get some peace and quiet.

    Oh My Gawd.

One day out of the week you're whining about? LMAO!! Hey, if you were ever brave enough to pick up a gun and do some target practice, you might find that more enjoyable than "meditating".

Liberty....I don't know where that is, but I'll be sure never to move there because you're the kind of neighbor I would consider a "pain in the ass".

That would be kind of fucked up for the people who don't shoot on Sundays, I imagine the ones shooting are wearing ear protection.

You could always just get a big ass gun that is probably illegal in most countries and set that off continually for a week...maybe they would feel so unmanly about their guns that they would stop.

I also suggest watching Bugs Bunny cartoons...he always had a clever way of beating someone who outgunned him.

Even my gun-loving father-in-law (he has guns like The Adams Family had boxes for "Thing" all over the house) knows to knock it off after about 30 minutes of large caliber shooting on his farm. It's fun to shoot them but when it goes on for hours intermittently--like you think it's stopped, then it starts up--it's enough to make you, I dunno... go crazy maybe? A rampage perhaps?

Maybe a silencer law would be helpful.

As people live closer and closer together, noise pollution becomes a legitimate issue.
