Is that where the rednecks learn that shit. Hmph. Go figure.......closet muslims.
I wouldn't know, thought YOU might have that answer.
Maybe he was from Alabama!!! Tsk tsk...
But personally, the guy's an idiot. Can't speak English, cannot fathom science and may not be able to comprehend philosophy and yet he teaches you how to live your life. Great.
I am not for feminism but he needs an education by some, that's for sure.
I usually use a brick! Very effective for shuttin the little woman up! :whistling:
Oh my, that could draw blood, which is a no no, according to that neanderthal.
Use a phone book.
I'm waitin for Jimmah to weigh in on this. what with his humanitarian credentials n'all.
Well, I'll do it for whoever Jimmah is.
You have to appreciate the society into which this guy is preaching. He's not talking to Americans, he is talking to Bahrainians. Who are a little backward on the concept of female emancipation. Of importance is that the guy says if the husband hurts his wife, he will be punished by Allah (even if the wife forgives him). Now this is important because it implies the wife is protected by Allah, and that an action of abuse is not tolerated even if the victim fails to take up the matter. The latter concept is actually more progressive than in many states, where no charges are laid unless the victim presses them (and which causes a problem for taking action in abusive relationships).
Now its not perfectly westernised but there are some important things here:
1. A woman is not a chattel,
2. That hurting the woman is not permitted,
3. That the victim's forgiveness is no alleviation of guilt.
Now considering that if there is no bruising, bleeding or witnesses, it is highly unlikely that a westen government would be able to press charges, so the practical outcome of the doctrine is virtually indistinguishable from western law.
However, there is a very big difference in general attitude. But i read this guy as trying to stem domestic violence that is already happening, I don't think he's encouraging it.
As a point of interest, there doesn't seem to be any restriction on what the wife may do to the husband....
