Kids want to be accepted. If you can't accept your kid, your kid might not feel loved, no matter how much you say you do. Can you love someone, without giving them the feeling they are loved? Is that love then?

On the issue of sexuality, it might not be appropriate....
But you have to be true to yourself, too. If Con doesn't like homosexuality, that his right not to like it.
That doesn't mean he cannot like or even platonically love homosexuals.
I can love my wife but not like a particular aspect of her personality....

You can love anyone you want but it isn't your business to approve of their activity behind closed doors, that borders on respect.

If your child was homosexual would you love them? I think you would.

Well, considering all the same sex couples that I know (and TFM will verify that I live in a community where the majority is homosexual) are just about the same as any hetro couple.....whats the problem?

They are doctors, lawyers, teachers, parents (and make much better ones a lot more often then straight parents, on the PTA, contribute equally to community causes - not just "gay" ones....on and on and on.......The asst-principal at our elementry/middle school (small town) was in fact a lesbian and she was there until her retirement a couple years ago.

My children have had many "uncles" and "aunts" where they have been welcomed all there lives, for cookies & milk, ice cream, they have been babysat by my gay neighbors....and never have I had cause for concern.

Not to mention they put on the best damn bingo in town! Oh, and the local gay bar....has "give back" Tuesdays....where a percentage of proceeds to too local community programs, such as the senior center, afterschool programs, youth programs etc.

Yeah, I just had to post without thinking. Yes, you can love your kid and not condone of activities you oppose. Like murder, homosexuality, stealing etc. No, I don't think you can use reason to state that you should change your position in general to make life better for the one you love. It is opposing homosexuality that I feel is wrong, not opposing malicious actions done by your kids in general.

Since you dont want us to over analyse the question......

just what activity is it that we are supposed to be against ?

I am merely speaking of the personal decision of the person who does not approve of the lifestyle. They may not ever say anything to them, they may never march in parades or run for office on the basis of restricting Homosexual rights...they just have a personal belief that they do not approve of homosexuality. That is their private, personal belief.

Do you think that is wrong?

When I read these types of questions I think of my kids & always answer, "yes, I could love a homosexual". No matter what my child does or doesn't do, I will forever love him/her.
