Yeah, just hire a "Mall Lawyer" for about $100 and it's gone. Here in NC when you get a ticket you get about 15 letters from lawyers offering their services. You can get a "prayer for judgement continued" or, as Meth said, "equipment failure."
I always fight tickets and about half the time the cop doesn't show up in court and you win automatically. I've only gotten four tickets in my life and paid two. Plus. what Joe said is right. It will get thrown out.
I have never had a speeding ticket in my life. Or parking, or any traffic violation of any kind.
What a complete and total asshole I am.
I got one for 2 over, didn't have to pay, but still had to show up. Depending on your record, you might just want to suck it up and pay the fine, then again, some states will nally it by mail. Never know.
oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............
Are you saying that he actually wrote you a citation for going 1 mph over the speed limit?
If so, fight it. Tell the judge you are very sorry and that you typically never speed (as evidenced by your citation) and also ask how certain the officer was that you were actually going 66 instead of 1 mph less.
Keep bringing up the 1 mph as much as possible and if the officer is 100% certain about the 1 mph excess but don't deny anything. Any judge has better things to do than squabble about 1 mph, he will side with you. That is unless you call the officer a liar, that could get you a guilty verdict.
I don't know how it works anywhere else, but in CT you wouldn't even see a judge over a speeding ticket unless you refused what the prosecution offered.
