First, I propose we rid this site of this forum (RnR) as it only breeds hostility that gets carried onto other threads. RnR is generally a cesspool where people feel free to be total assholes to each other. When people are free to do that, they do not simply keep it here, they carry the grudges into the rest of the site. IMO, RnR is bad for this site.
Second, I propose that we have a REAL no insulting others rule. Not this crap we have now where people are free to hurl all sorts of insults as long as they are not "direct" insults. I for one an far nastier to lots of folks here because I have learned the unwritten rules of how to insult "indirectly".
I learned it through watching folks like TD insult the shit out of people by attacking them indirectly (liberals are..., you people are..., This post is...., your opinions are..., you always post..., this thread is destined for the circle of stupidity, etc.).
Before I resorted to playing the game that way, I had repeatedly argued for a REAL insult policy here. The mods I discussed it with and many posters would not have anythiong to do with it. They insisted that people be able to continue with the indirect insults. People just gave the that "get a thicker skin" bullshit when I suggested it. So, now I employ them. Why not if that is how the game is being played and noone wants to stop it?
But, all I see are people whining day and night about the tone here. It has become one of the most common topics on the site. Thread after thread are dedicated to it. People are bitter and mean. Mods are quitting.
I am more than willing to curb my own posting and eliminate these kind of attacks and insults. But, not while I am still having them hurled at me by folks with total impugnity.
So, what do you all say? Are you all willing to have both direct and indirect insults banned or do we just keep this up?
My vote was and remains that none of this be tolerated.

If it is popular with people who want to throw merde at each other, who am I to object? But I still think it would be better as a place to rant about having too much homework, or such things.
