Thread: A little rant.

If there is one think I despise about this country it is its continual insistence on using the Imperial System for measurments. METRIC IS SIMPLER AND MORE ACCURATE!!!!! :hissy: You just go up by tens, not by twelves or whatever.

Ok, done my ranting. Martini anyone?

I am so 110% there with you on that one! But you know where it's even weirder? When I was in Britain they do the temperatures in metric but their road signs were all in imperial. It was weird...

Imperial States of america. Hmmm.. fitting.
I'm old school, graduated in '81, but we were taught the metric system since the 6th grade and told it would be a world standard by the time we graduated.

One of my friends who's heading over to the UK in a few weeks was asking me if they had shillings and whether they were worth 10 or 25 cents and I had no idea. I found the money a bit confusing over there

You're describing a "vodka martini." A martini is gin and vermouth.

I agree that metric is better. But I'm still stuck on weighing myself in pounds (not kg) and I am 6'2" (not 190cm) tall.

PS. what's with the Brits weighing themselfs in "Stones"?

Wot! How could you find the money confusing? It's exactly the same as Australian money (only worth more). Like there's 100 pence in every pound, and there's 100 cents in every Aussie dollar. They even look the same - like the pound coin is almost identical to the $2 coin. :waving:
