Thread: What has happened to this place?

All of a sudden it seems like it has erupted into open warfare between pro status quo Americans, and the rest of the world.

I am actually not keen on contributing to any threads about America and American foreign policy any more. One word out of place (or more usually, misinterpreted), and a host of thin-skinned Americans are down on you like a tonne of bricks. This no longer appears to be an environment which encourages civilised debate.

There are polars here, not just thined skinned Americans but also vehnemous members who throw insults at every turn. For the most part I've noticed that they are not the Americans that you describe. There are people here who constantly knock down our culture, and those who insult people for having certain ideas. Unfortunatly some folks who try to be fair get caught in the middle, and I don't like it very much either. It's a shame that the worst offenders don't take part in open exchange in this forum.

Yeah I stopped for a long while and just dipped my toes back in again today. I was asked how to "Support The Troops". I'm out again. I fucking hate that saying...

See there, you are entiteled to your opinion & your support or not of the troops. Unless you just don't want to answer a question, wade in & tell 'em. You have every bit as much right to whatever your views & thoughts are as the next person.
Not beinging religion into it, but sometimes the only support I can give on a given thing is prayer & that's what I say to a question sometimes.

yeah, there's a gang of bullies out there. it's sad.
but my comparison of the rants to mental masturbation is kinda fun to watch.
I think I said that some of these people do it vigorously, some angrily, some like long rants, some are dramatic... and the physical usually is similar to the mental processes....

so today there is giant circle jerk thread about Bush that involves the same group of people. kinda funny.

I hate it too. the context was that the government isn't supporting the troops and the US government is bad. the US is bad. the US sucks... blah blah blah.
I don't think you were asked how you support the troops... instead the point was... who cares... the troops are being supported... and the bitching about the troops is a giant waste of time. if those who think the troops aren't being supported aren't doing anything except bitching... go help the troops.

Well I just don't see the point to the question. Your answer is probably the best someone can give. A prayer or hope that no harm comes to them. The question of "How to support" the troops always turns into; "Oh well they need more funding so that they have what they need to be safe" or "Oh well lets bring them home cause they can't be harmed here". Both are valid opinions on how to "Support" them, but the question is so generalised that it makes no sense to ask it.

But thats just my opinion...
