Dear Mr. Linder:
I have voted Republican since 1984, always straight ticket Republican, but I have to tell you that I am considering other alternatives for the next election. Here are my reasons:
1) This Immigration bill is not acceptable to myself or the majority of the country. The way it was crafted in darkness and is now being shoved down our throats is unacceptable. I want the border wall built and secured before we try to legalize the illegal immigrants. I will not accept to bill that tries to do everything at once. Congress has lost the trust of the American people for their lack of following their own legislation. It would go a long way towards regaining the trust of Americans if we saw a determined effort to stop the invasion. Here in Georgia it is quite evident that the invasion is huge. From Chamblee where the sit around on street corners to the Gainesville chicken plants....anyone with eyes open can see the results. Build the wall.
2) Republicans have shown over the last seven years that they are not conservative on big government or government spending. I must say I am dismayed that the conservative revolution which everyone worked so hard to acheive has been squandered. It is time for some Republicans to stand up in Washington and demand fiscal sanity. I know that you and Mr. Boortz wrote the Fairtax book, and if implemented would go a long way towards returning sanity to Washington, but unfortunately many of your collegues have shown no interest in relinquishing the power of the purse.
These two issues will drive me away from the Republican party if not addressed. The war in Iraq has nothing to do with my decision, I support the President 100% in his effort to fight this global war on terror. But if we leave our borders wide open what good is fighting terror abroad?
I thank you for your service to the nation, but I felt compelled to write you and let you know my feelings. I have never done this before, and I have never called a representative before today. I left a long message at Senator Chambliss office, and spoke to a representative at Senator Isaacson's office.
Thank you for your time.
