Thread: To all hacks who think they know how to develop software:

A few notes regarding developing software:

1- adding buttons that link to the same report on lots of different screens is NOT something you need to do "for operator convenience". It results in people not knowing where to find things, and they'll actually end up looking in MORE places for a specific report than they would if you just put the report in one place, where it belongs, and left it at that.

2- brainfucking every little detail...incorporating vast and complicated sets of data-entry screens to accomodate every thought that crosses your mind in minute detail, is NOT required for the development of effective software. In fact, leaving things more general and allowing the operator to simply put in whatever they might want on a topic means that the program is a lot more flexible, and FAR easier to fathom and use.
