Thread: Positive rep hurts

I was recently given positive reputation points by a member named Fishmint and it actually lowered the overall amount of reputation points I had. It went from 41 points before the positive rep to 40 points afterwards. I'm sure I never got any negative rep, but the positive rep had the same effect. It's really no big deal, but it's very odd nonetheless. Can anyone answer why that occurred?

Yeah, it went up to 52 points after the rep pragmatist and "OM" gave me. So, it's not some defect with the system. It's still very odd, though. Maybe mods just have that effect on people (fishmint is a mod, right?).

No. You probably miscounted. It only goes down with reds, never with greens.

Gash you're lucky- I have loadz of negative reps and like 1 positive (and in that one they said they were just taking pity on me!)!

So, just wondering, how did that one postive rep not only neutralize the effects of your negative rep, but also made your rep green? Hm, I guess I should stop worrying about these little mysteries over the reputation system.

"Reputations" shouldn't matter. It's all about popularity.
