Thread: Rant about "Rant & Rave"

I don't get this forum or everyone's need for it. Why is there a forum that allows posters to publicly insult each other or to call out and disrespect the staff?

I came here from another board that allowed personal attacks and it got to the point that was all the board was about. Debates and discussions turned into threads of nothing more than personal attacks and belittling efforts. To me this forum fosters that notion. You don't like what I post, so you come here and insult me and it's cool, you get away with it while being offensive and mocking me. That is just wrong, imho.

So someone explain to me why this forum exists, please.

It is what the membership wished it to be they expressed a desire for an unmoderated forum where they could speak their mind.

Oh a personal attack forum - I don't like your argument, your attitude, your debate tactics or I disagree with your position so I need a place to attack you. Seems stupid to me.

I dont much care for it myself but it has it's advantages.

I can now see that the fora makes a mods job more difficult, but I'm willing to deal with the consiquences of it's existance. Members are not required to post there.

I understand a desire for an unmoderated forum to speak your mind. But the personal attacks are silly and immature. IMO the "membership" made a mistake. But it can be corrected. So why not poll the current membership about what they think? Maybe Vortex and I aren't the only ones who know from first hand experience that a forum like this will ultimately destroy the board.

After all the talks, all the big words and all the nonsense... all it is for is for people to build up their perceived maturity level just so they can come in and attack others for not being as smart, mature, or politically inclined as others.

I signed up in August, saw this forum and thought this is kind of retarded... good debates elsewhere, but mental retardation in here.

Which is why I didn't really come back until mid January or so.

This forum needs to be wiped from existance, I'm being reprimanded for being an absolute dickhead to an absolute dickhead. Seems unfair to me.

But having been called a liar in this forum, I know how offensive it is. I don't care to be personally attacked or publicly called a liar and to have a forum that allows it to me fosters the bickering and childishness, imho.

People love rant and rave. It makes them feel free to express themselves, Vortex. As for people disrespecting mods.. well, I think I can just prove HIM wrong.. that's better that arguing

I know you can prove him wrong, I believe Sparta and OM and James can too. I understand the need to express ones self, I don't understand the need to publicly insult or attack others. So I don't get a "free personal attack zone".
