MSN had a similar report involving gold also at least one Elliot wave newsletter. With the shortage that happens every year due to Diwali, Christmas and Chinese New Year's hitting bang, bang, bang for 2/3 of the world's population to give gifts Gold could hit 2K.

It by all reasonable standards should be around 13~1500 right now. People knew or at least thought this type of manipulation was going on and it looks like they were right.

I think it is a conformation that there is an oligarchy that controls governments through the central banks. Nothing will come of it and even larger manipulations are coming ,due to the recent assurances the government has made in its willingness to bail out banks and investment firms, there is nothing to stop rampant speculation.

The problem in a nutshell is that production plus liquidation of hoards is lagging so far behind demand that downticks increase purchases. Shorting in this situation is suicidal because the longs want delivery. On the other hand if the combination of dirty floats and different world markets are exploited even at the margin then the currency markets will triple the treasury rate. I think the fed and the Chinese central bank are bankrolling the manipulation. India, Russia and South Africa are also involved but less so.
