The actual numbers indicate that there is not a recession. Though if we were to be accurate we would have to say that we cannot know the numbers until after they have all been collected, or until after the recession has been in effect for three quarters. So far we are not in a recession and the growth of the economy while poor is not low enough for it to be recession.
But let's look at some background. There are lots of recessions - I think the figure is that there is a recession every 11 years. Recessions by definition are minor (as opposed to depressions). They happen in all sorts of presidencies and have much less to do with who is president than they do with market forces that no one understands enough to manipulate.
The reason people are talking about recession recession recession is because they have one motive - to malign this President.
I would think that you, Michael, would not get drawn in to exaggerations about the negatives of our economy that are for political purposes.
