    End of American Dominance?

With Outsourcing becoming the norm, Low-pay service jobs rising, and the Dollar falling it doesn't that seem that far-fetched (at least to me). Not to mention China's booming economy and our relative unpopularity in the rest of the world.

What do you guys think of the situation?

I agree. The EU is kicking our ass, the dollar is falling, and the only thing we seem to be able to do about it is sit on our ass.

Thanks TFM, you reminded me. Our culture within the last 1-2 decades has changed to that of convenience above all else. It's made us lazy. Very lazy.

Extremely, which is why there is an Iranian guy in the cubicle behind me, a Pakastani woman in the cubicle in front of me, and my boss is Canadian.

End of dominance no....problems yes. But Americans have always thrived at fixing problems.

Lately we've thrived more at kicking back watching our country go down the tubes.

Well which is it? Europeans high standard of living and laziness is ruining them while America picks their bones, or the US's laziness and financial mismanagement is ruining it while Europe picks their bones.

I hear both so often but they're exact opposite.

I think China is far to corrupt to ever make it as a world economic leader. It was the same in the 80's in Japan. They had the most money and seemed invincible, but all the money was centralised in a tiny number of hands, making the whole thing a sham. You can't support a successful capitalist economy with people living and working in 3rd world consitions, under 1800's labour laws, with massive levels of price-fixing, government monoploies, ingrained corruption, 50% of the workforce staying at home scrubbing dishes and all the hallmarks of that old grey Asian man style of business.

Yes I believe that we are under threat from attack which could end a lot of the ways we live, but the point made in this thread will be the death nail, which would of course come from within.

This is what happens when you don't participate in your future and leave it in the hands of a few.

I started a thread in this room earlier to day stating that OPEC will turn away from using the dollar as reserves. That is to say the petro dollar will be replaced with another currency. I would imagine that it will be the EURO. If and when that happens, the dollar will plunge like a rock. I would doubt that there will be a return of the dollar even at todays value.

That will be the end of American Dominance in the worlds economy.

Saddam had already switched. That is my theory as to why we were in such a rush to go in there and remove him.
