Bangladeshi microcredit pioneer Muhammad Yunus and his Grameen Bank were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for their work in advancing economic and social opportunities for the poor, particularly women.
The economist and the bank he founded will share the prize. They were cited for their efforts to help "create economic and social development from below" in their home country by using innovative economic programs such as microcredit lending.
Grameen Bank has been instrumental in helping millions of poor Bangladeshis, many of them women, improve their standard of living by letting them borrow small sums to start businesses.

I don't see what that has to do with anything.

This could be viewed two ways. One could say that you made the thread title as though it were suprising, "OH MY GOD! A Muslim won the Nobel Peace Prize!", or one could view it as "A Muslim won the Nobel Peace Prize, they're better than you! Nanny nanny boo boo!"

Really? only two ways? How about we just veiw it as A Muslim won the Nobel Peace Prize!? I said it because we are constantly reminded of the bad side of Islam, but here some the good,(in terms of the people). Got it now? Im not a racist I promise!

The thing is, people say that ISLAM is wrong, not Muslims.

I only have beef with the thread name, because it makes it seem somehow important that he's a Muslim.

They wanted to give Tookie Williams a Nobel Peace Prize---pffft! Which means....it means NOTHING.

The Nobel Peace Prize...Stockholm's biggest peice of horseshit ever. Let's see, Mikey Gorbachev gets it after prosecuting the WAR in Afghanistan and causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands. And what does he get credit for? LOSING the Cold War.

KOFI ANNAN gets it on 2001, just as he was really starting to rake in the money from the oil for food scandal.

JIMMY CARTER? It would have made sense perhaps to give it to him in 1978 for getting Egypt and Isreal to sign a peace accord. That was the only thing he ever did right, after all. But for as a lifetime acheivement award? It was clearly just a booby prize for spending twenty years bad-mouthing the US.

This year they seem to have actually awarded the price to someone who a least isn't actively killing anyone this year. Too bad the Peace Price has been so corrupted by the socialist anti-Western lemmings in Stockholm that it no long has any meaning. Maybe if they can actually award it to people who work for peace for next twenty years the tarnish might wear off.
