Re: ITALY: President Sparks Euthanasia Debate

I agree with Marxist's opinion. A person should have the right to choose how he or she doesn't want to live, and how he or she wants to die.

The Mafia originated in Sicily in the mid-19th century. The Mafia is more prevelant in the US than it is in Italy these days.

Not so much anymore. The mafia is dead in both countries for the most part. Just a bunch of wannabes.

Russia, that's where the problem is.

The fall of a superpower is a criminal heaven.

Re: ITALY: President Sparks Euthanasia Debate

It was the end of the semester for one of my microbiology classes and the professor reccomended taking a BioMedical Ethics course because of the number of cases occuring because of microbiology. One of the issues researched and debated was doctor assisted suicide.

As most of you know, Dr. Jay Kevorkian (Dr. Death) was helping terminally ill patients and those under severe amounts of pain commit sucidie safely. He had all of his clients complete videos stating why they wanted to end their life and that Dr. Kevorkian was only helping them. There were always witnesses from the family present thoughout the process and everything was documented. Still, Dr. Kevorkian was dealing legal troubles and public protest for him helping assist with suicide.

The major arguements that were presented against him were that sucide is illegal and he could be considered an accessory and that he was breeching the hypocratic oath, which all doctors agree to. Personally, I agree with Dr. Kevorkian because he was only assisting patients who were dealing with excessive amounts of pain and suffering. Also, all of his patients were unable to live a semi normal life. I believe that people should be able to deciede if they would like to end their own lives and it causes a lot less problems this way then if they jump off a building for example.
