    House Approves U.S.-Mexican Border Fence

WASHINGTON - The House voted for the second time in a year to erect a fence along a third of the U.S.-Mexican border, part of a Republican effort to keep illegal immigration an issue before voters.
A new 700 miles of double-layered fencing won approval on a 283-138 vote, a bigger margin than last December when the House passed it as part of a broader bill that also would have made being an illegal immigrant a felony. The nearly 2,000-mile border now has about 75 miles of fencing.
Rep. Peter King (news, bio, voting record), R-N.Y., said the separate fence bill was needed to show Americans "we can take meaningful action to secure the border."
The House's bill last December and one passed by the Senate last May are so far apart on issues that Republican leaders haven't even tried to negotiate a compromise.

But is the Senate really going to pass it? Since they probably want to still legalize the 13.5 million illegals already here. (Of course after that happens, 5 years from now they'll be 20 million more illegals!)

I say everyday citizens should just go down to the border and start building fences; who seriously is going to stop them? Get some people who know masonry, construction people who don't have that many contracts or can't work (because the illegals have their jobs!); I'm sure the Minuteman and the border patrol will guard the workers and not stop them.
'Cause the diferently worded bills will keep going in circles in Congress and the President and nothing will get done.

We shouldn't secure our boarders with walls. There are better ways to go about it.

Why raise our own wall after the Berlin wall was torn down? Will it be to keep illegal aliens out, or Americans in? Or both?

Oh, jeez, someone else that confuses the Berlin Wall, which was used to keep prisoners inside, and a border security fence that will keep invaders out.

I read you'll be needing a passport to go to Mexico next year. I wonder if Americans will just crawl under the fence to go on vacation in Meheco instead of flying, just to avoid getting a passport.
