Russia needs a Tsar...

Eight heads of the Republic's largest media sources were invited on 21 February to a closed conversation with Minnikhanov about the upcoming Elections. Among the attendees were directors of several television companies and agencies, and head editors of large newspapers.

The current President of Tatarstan explained to them, why he is counting on a Putin victory.
«I would be personally ashamed for Tatarstan, if we do not properly express our gratitude and respect for that great man!»— said Minnikhanov.

«Putin — «is a man who with knowledge in all industries» and has been helping Tatarstan in all our endeavors. Our country does not need a weak "president", it needs a Tsar. A Tsar — is a courageous person, who takes responsibility for the nation. Other candidates do not have the qualities to be a Tsar: Zyuganov is too old, «and besides, he is a damned Communist», Mironov does not have the experience, and «with Zhirinovsky as President, we'd all be living in a circus ruled by a clown».

Minnikhanov also criticized Mikhail Prokhorov for saying that Russia needs a manager.

I think Putin is old news. I'm gonna nominate our own, "The Man" as Tsar of all Russia, and throw in the territories of the former USSR as well.

Even just Russia alone, no, thank you. 160 ethnic groups; 4 big religious denominations (Orthodox Christianity; Sunni Islam; Tibetan Buddhism; Judaism, in that order), plus smaller communities of Shiites, Catholics, Baptists, Pagans, Shamanists, Satanists, and [their] God only knows who else; a full spectrum of extreme ideologies from very far right to deep far left, especially among youth, in schools and universities; 23,000,000 living below the poverty line (about $5 a day)... No, thank you. Not going near that.

Reminds me of when conservatives were making a lot of noise about the various Obama administration "tsars" and how this reflected Obama's communist or socialist sympathies. That was quite a laugh.
