he is threatening to do both, but has actually done neither.

and no one is claiming it'll solve the deficit on its own, but it'd be a start, which is more than the republicans have done. course, i don't think obama has the stones to really do it.

You do realize that the Ryan budget plan raises taxes on the middle class while giving even more tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, right?
As a Democrat, I take solace in the fact that the Republicans have nominated the guy who lost the nomination to the guy who lost the presidency to the guy who is now the President.

Well of course it won't be. The right fails to understand that DoD needs reductions, and that taxes need to be raised. I personally favor ending all corporate tax breaks and then lowering the corporate rate to 20%. That seems like a centrist ideal to me. As far as Medicare, cap it's growth at the rate of inflation. As for Social Security, eliminate the Wage Base Cap, and raise the retirement age to 65. As far as DoD, a 50% total reduction should do for now. Then drop the Department of Homeland Security.

i dunno. when it becomes true? taxes are at a historic low. deficits are at a historic high. duh.

i agree about spending though. defense spending in this country is ruinously obscene.

So, cutting any defense spending is bad? And raising any taxes is bad?

Obama is not suggesting that his budget would solve the debt and deficit problem in one year.

worst thing you could do because congress will spend all of the surplus monies as it has done in the past.

you don't give more money to anyone let alone government when they can't manage what they already receive.
