That might have something to do with the fact that the "white race" was pretty much hijacked from it's historical meaning by Europeans, in the 17th century, in order to establish a stark distinction between those of African descent ( or those of darker complexion), and everyone else - in order to rationalize slavery, and maintain a "white" ruling class. I suspect that these types of historical facts are at the heart of the real motivations for resistance to a discussion of "black history". At least for some people.
