I don't know that he was asked an honest question as much as a loaded question, along the lines of "have you stopped beating your wife?" The question he was asked was not an accusation, but it would be difficult to give a simple answer to it without seeming dodgy. It's a poorly formed question (I would say with intent). But that's just politics and he should be able to roll with it and give the more complex response. His was funny though. Originally Posted by Ronin Tetsuro

Again, I agree that in light of the situation a more conscientious politician would've certainly been more deft in handling the question, but I'm not willing to declare the man a bigot or a racist, or even concede that the comment was bigoted.
I can understand some sensitivity due to the circumstances, but let's not get carried away.
