Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison Slams GOP for FAA Shutdown

The Republicans have effectively shutdown the FAA. It means lots of furloughs and the shut down of construction projects. Of course, it's all over unions. Republicans want to make it harder for unions to be formed at airlines and railways. Hutchison agrees about the union stuff, but she thinks this is a stupid way to do things. In the meantime, we're losing millions in revenues and lots of people aren't working. This is stupid.

The FAA is the victim in the GOP’s assault on organized labor, as House Republicans are insisting that any FAA reauthorization include a provision making it harder for workers at airlines and railways to unionize. However, the House GOP’s intransigence doesn’t extend to all Republicans. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) yesterday criticized her party’s stance, saying “it’s not honorable” to hold up the FAA over unrelated policy disputes:
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, breaking with her party, called on Congress to pass a temporary extension that was devoid of any complicating policy issues.
“We’re getting ready to leave for a month. We should not shut down the FAA because of a rider put on the extension of the FAA legislation that has not been negotiated,” Hutchison said.
“It is not honorable for the House to send an extraneous amendment” on a funding extension, she said.

I love this woman and I swear, if McCain had run her as his VP, I would have voted for him. I honestly believe that if he had done so, he'd be Prezznit now. His choice of VP was just so damned cynical and it cost him the election.

And to all of you conservative men out there who believe that the left is intimidated by a strong conservative woman....Raspberries to you...many of us on the left admire and respect this woman.

queue the RINO accusations in 3....2...1....
As a Democrat, I take solace in the fact that the Republicans have nominated the guy who lost the nomination to the guy who lost the presidency to the guy who is now the President.

55 days off. Wow. They spend all this time on a crisis they created. Pass the most ridiculous bill in history. Then take time off, instead of actually doing something that can generate jobs.
