I kind of question the logic of any forum moderator promoting the view that people shouldn't moderate their tone and be respectful to people they disagree with on matters of values and public policy.
Maher is a bigoted asshole, plain and simple.
True, but saying Maher's less of a bigoted asshole than Limbaugh isn't saying much since we all know Limbaugh is a HUGE fucking bigoted asshole. Maher is only about half his size.
Not just moderators. Maher's tirade is an example of why moderates on both sides are being pushed to the sidelines by the extremists. It's the old "might makes right"' with those being the loudest and most extreme being the mightiest.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from Birmingham Jail, April 16, 1963
"When rules are selectively administered, when bias influences who is punished and who is not then everyone will begin to doubt the justice of the system."
I agree with Bill Maher. The CONS are out of control and the KKK vs. Blacks in the 1950's is a good analogy for what is going on today. One side is reasonable and one side is nuts.

I like Maher, but I think he's wrong here. I don't think the new Republican leadership is going to be run by the Tea Party types. They won't allow it, because they know that they might as well hand the Democrats the next election if they do.
Say what you need to say, but if it is "everyone who disagrees with me is x," then do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.
I'm a liberal. Guess what, we all are. It's not about liberal vs. not, it's about progressive vs. conservative.

I suppose I can understand the callous selfish disregard of the conservatives. It is their pride in it that passes me by. Rack Jite
The only intolerance I preach is intolerance against intolerance. A person will get respect until they are the first to be disrespectful. That is what Maher is addressing - the way conservatives have gone so far right-wing as to pretend that any left-wing agenda has no sensible foundation.
