Fla. City, Church in Standoff Over 9/11 Koran Burning

A Florida church that was denied a permit for its controversial plan to burn copies of the Koran on Sept. 11 says the book burning will continue anyway.

The Dove World Outreach Center drew international attention after announcing its plan to burn copies of the Islamic holy text on church grounds to mark the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Armed Group To Guard Church During Koran Burning

A group that proudly calls itself Right Wing Extreme has pledged to protect a church in Gainesville , Florida that is planning to hold a Koran burning on 9/11, according to WorldCorrespondents.com, which reports as follows.

“This Press Release entitled “Armed Christian Conservative group to protect church during burning of Quran” was shared to us by Prince Shannon Carson of Right Wing Extreme.

The Christian conservative organization Right Wing Extreme has offered its support and protection for the International Burn a Quran day.

Gainesville? It's the capital of northern Florida backwater, fundamentalist Christian conservatives.

And if they say their going to be armed to "protect" the church, and keep fire officials from entering church property while they burn these Korans, you can bet dollars to donuts shots will be fired.

It's sad that they don't see the irony, and the disconnect between their Church's name "Dove World Outreach Center", and their words and actions. Then again, this is north Florida - better known as Southern Georgia.

I was thinking if we have aerial drones flying around Pakistan taking out terrorists we should send one here to take out this terrorist stronghold.

The armed group development turned this from a despicable but meaningless distraction, into a potential confrontation. I hope these people show some sense before the day arrives and their fires have to be put out, with force if necessary. If this armed group sticks to their guns and the owner of the church accepts it then I think this is probable cause to stop it from happening entirely and arrest him and his cohorts before they can light the match. I hope that this man's malfeasance as a pastor and this militia's interference does not produce another Waco.

The haters and the idiots can go to jail if they are going to defy the law with force of arms. Speech gets protected, armed rebellions get put down... it's the 'merkin way.

I find this interesting - in my mind, speech isn't a freedom which is limitless. If someone's hate speech impedes the freedom of another person it shouldn't be tolerated.
