    Thumbs down

The Media! Television, radio, and newspapers are the means to what we call the news. Yet these various forms of media were created to bring noteworthy news to the American People. The facts and the truth. In the beginning of this country the population that held the majority was on the East Coast. Radio was the first to arrive on the scene and news was reported. In the 50s Television would make its debut. Majority of populations were now able to be reached. These 2 forms of media are now the predominant power source in the world of media. Yet both are controlled by and influenced by those that live on the East and West Coasts.

No longer does the majority of the American population reside in these 2 regions of the country anymore, and still the media is dominated and controlled by these 2 regions. The world of media no longer cares about the truth and facts. Its about ratings! Or is it? The bigger picture is that there is only one motivating factor. It's about influence. Influence is power and in our country power is money. Both television and radio sweep up the masses of populations and influence them politically, religiously, and socially. Consistantily telling us this is the way things are. Telling the younger generations and then even younger generations the very same thing.

Who controls the story that is being talked about? Why do we hear of some heartfelt story from the East Coast which should be in their own local news? Why do We THE People have to be told news in a 3 day cycle of stories that bring us no informative news. No answers and no more information or knowledge is revealed? Reporters use to go after the facts and truth. Now we get partial facts and truths with the reporters opinions then their feelings, how the story affects them. Then the all too true line that all give; how it affects you the viewer. The politicians and law makers are allowed to outright lie to the nation. Celebrities, stars, and icons are allowed to get on television and express how they feel and what they are thinking. Then Lie to our country-men and women.

We have newspaper columinsts that are now on national television and radio. People that were not meant to be on televison nationally. Newspaper journalists on television and all expressing their opinions and again HOW THEY FEEL. Talking about issues they have no expertise in and any knowledge they do have is what is researched before they go on the set. Contributors, legal analysis, political strategists which are not experts yet they will tell you what the other party is thinking and feeling. Yet they hold no job politically! Why are they in the media?

Moreover, now we have network wars not for just ratings. But ideaology! All of this; already on top of disinformation. Or information being controlled by the Federal Government.

Last year this planet was almost hit by a major asteroid and not one news stationed reported it until after the fact. Today we have major earthquakes erupting all over the planet yet no one in the news is talking about such. No experts no news. Volcanoes are erupting and rising out of the oceans. Disasters are on the rise as they do with all population growths throughout the world. Yet no news no experts.

Last week the White House held a dinner for all the press and media. Then the breaking news of the bomber in New York City. All of a sudden here is the mayor of New York, Mr Bloomberg on television talking about how he was at the White House Dinner. What was he doing there? Could it be he owns a television Network. Influence at work once again.

The world of media is changing. Those that bring the news are every bit as accountable as our politicians. So our celebrities, movie stars, and sports best. Anyone that wants to be in the public viewing of the world...........IS!

Whenever I read about geography effecting seemingly universal properties, I always read it as "there aren't enough pro-life ads on television."

Whats the gain from having NBC in Kansas? Clear Channel (which is the biggest radio organization btw) is located in San Antonio. Is that too coastal for you?

And where did you get the idea that the majority of people live in landlocked states? because I'm going to need to see figures on that one. Of the top ten cities, population wise, they look like this

    1. New York, N.Y. 8,274,527 8,143,197 8,008,278 7,322,564 685,714 9.4 1 1 1 1

o of the top 5, its 3 to 2. Of the top 10, its an even split, but unless you're going for a highly techinical definition, only Chicago is really in the middle. And Arizona and Pennsylvania seem landlocked, but I don't know if I'd call them non-coastal.

I would consider Arizona part of the West Coast and Pennsylvania as with the East. You are correct on the statistics. My point was that the Midwest holds the majority of the populations, now. As you stated 4 are in the top ten and further check would prove the point is true. Who owns Clear Channel? I did not know they were number one in radio. I know for the southeast it was Cox Radio and I think they were the 5th largest newspaper owners in the country. I have not looked into what Hearst Media owns or has a part of, already knowing he use to be the largest for newspapers on the west coast.

Your point on geography and region is along what the meaning I was trying to express. Yet the world of media is controlled by both Coasts. Non moreso than what comes out of New York and Washington. Both dictating what the norm. I definately do not agree with such. Take NBC for example: WMAQ Broadcast Radio, The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, Newsweek Magizine, USA Channels and Newspaper, you know the Democratic World of the media and yes there is more. All owned by G.E..... But who are the majority of the shareholders who are the major players. Are they a democrat or a republican?

In speaking with many in the midwest including those in Dallas, are tired not only of the points I was bringing but with the programming. For it is about the influence and distracting of the American People. As well as maintaining that divided poplation and influencing what to believe. Regardless of party affiliation.
